They have no control over Mother Nature and I appreciate the captain got us back safely, but it would be better if they notified passengers that the water would be extremely choppy and gave them a choice. There were almost no other boats on the water our entire trip which tells you about the conditions. I would have paid extra to take a train or uber back to Cannes instead.
